Ben Lomond summit looking across Loch Lomond to the Arrochar Alps (Luke Arnott)

At over 22 miles long and up to 5 miles wide Loch Lomond lays claim to be the largest freshwater lake in Great Britain by surface area.  The challenge of completing a high-level circuit of the loch was conceived by Luke Arnott. In all it adds up to running some 75 miles, climbing a contrasting mixture of 29 mountains and hills and ascending some 30,000 feet.  Luke completed this formidable round twice during Spring 2019.  The first was a solo run with food drops in 38-47 in April, followed by a second supported round less than a month later taking 34-24.  A comprehensive account of Luke's two runs is provided via the link below.

The object is to visit the 29 summits named above by starting and finishing at the Tom Weir Statue at Balmaha.  Use in conjuntion with OS Explorer maps OL38 & OL39: Loch Lomond South & Loch Lomond North.  For grid references and heights of the summits see Luke Arnott's schedule below.
