The Fleetwood Welsh Round North Wales
This round of 63 miles, 26,700 feet and 38 summits was devised and completed by John Fleetwood in 2004 in a trademark solo, unsupported run of 23 hours 20 minutes. It is based on the Paddy Buckley Round but with some significant variations to create what he considered to be a more logical and symmetrical route. The Moelwyns and Moel yr Hydd were ommited taking a direct line from Cnicht to Moel Siabod while the classic north ridges of Tryfan and Crib Goch are included. Another difference was to swap the slate quarries of Elidir Fach for the Welsh 3000s route from Elidir Fawr to Crib Goch, and Yr Aran for Mynydd Mawr. There is the option of including the Northern Carneddau 3000 foot peaks which adds a further 7 miles and 1300 feet and about 2 hours. See the link below to John’s blog giving a full account of his run.
