The Charlie Ramsay Round The UK Big 3 Rounds
Binnein Mor, June 2009, © Bob Wightman
This is the Scottish equivalent of the BGR with a circuit of 24 peaks in 24 hours involving some 60 miles and 28000' ascent. Starting from Glen Nevis Youth Hostel it takes in the Mamores, the Loch Treig munros, the Grey Corries, the Aanochs, Carn Mor Dearg and Ben Nevis. Ramsay first completed it in 1978 as an extension of Philip Tranter's Round of 19 munros in 1964. Although the shortest round of the UK Big 3 it is widely regarded as the toughest due to the limited support points, its high remote terrain and its more testing navigation. There is a CRR website providing route details, advice, history and a record of all finishers - see link below.
View/print a clockwise schedule in an Excel format. This can be customised to your chosen start time and pace.
